College Police

College Police is responsible for ensuring the general safety and security of students, faculty, and staff as well as operating parking on college properties.

College Police assists with vehicle lock outs, jump starts, and traffic control, and it hosts community policing events and a self-defense program.

College Police also coordinates the District's Emergency Preparedness Program.

Parking

Parking Permits

Parking permits are required at all times while school is in session. Students are required to purchase and display a new parking permit each semester (fall, spring, and summer). Daily parking permits are also available and may be purchased at all three campuses.

Disabled placards will be honored in lieu of a parking permit; however, students who have a valid disabled placard, and are the registered owner of the placard or plate, must still register their vehicle with College Police.

Temporary parking arrangements can be made for students who sustain a temporary injury; these permits are available at the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Office (760.795.6658).

Student Parking

On the Oceanside Campus, students may park in marked stalls in student lots 1B, 1C, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 3C, 4C, 5A, or 5B and in marked spaces along Barnard Drive. Additionally, after 6 p. m., students with valid student permits may park in staff spaces in Parking Lots 3C, 4C, and 5A only.

On the San Elijo Campus and at the Community Learning Center, students may park in marked spaces in student lots.

Police Escorts

Students, staff, faculty, and campus guests may request an escort from College Police. The service is provided during regular office hours at each campus location.

Safety & Security Report

A copy of MiraCosta College's annual Safety & Security Report (in accordance with the Uniform Crime Reporting Procedures and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act) is available to students and prospective students.

This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the college, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning sexual assault.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found is located at the College Police Office at the Oceanside Campus (760.795.6640), in the Administration Building at the San Elijo Campus (760.634.7870), and in Building 200, Room 204, at the Community Learning Center (760.795.8896).
